I'm heading to Las Vegas next week for a 4 1/2-day bacchanal. Okay, perhaps not for a wild and woolly par-taay, but to relax by the pool, watch a couple of shows, play a little blackjack, eat at some fancy restaurants, and watch the wildlife on the Strip.
But there's a kink in my plans: My SO recently told me that because of late-breaking events at work, he may only be able to make it for half of the trip - or for none of it. A touch frustrating: It's too late to reschedule or cancel our hotel plans without losing our deposit, we can't get a refund or reschedule our tickets to the Cirque de Soleil's much ballyhooed "O" spectacle, and it would be very difficult to switch my vacation plans at this late date at my office, as I'm already taking another 1 1/2 weeks off in August. Sigh.
So I may just go by myself. Heck, I'm an independent gal. I'd take a well-deserved break at a day spa and get a massage, facial and manicure/pedicure, drink slushy pina coladas by the hotel pool while reading back issues of the New Yorker and Harper's   that have been piling up on my nightstand, hike and take photos at Red Rock Canyon (early in the morning, before it gets too hot), eat at a couple of high-end restaurants (I'm not one of those people who hate dining by themselves), window-shop, and yes, watch the wildlife in the casinos and on the Strip. I'll have a car, so I may also look at the real estate market. There's a chance I may buy a home in Vegas as an investment property.
Whaddya think?!
everything sounds great, especially the spa part. i think hiking might be out though. july in vegas is scorching (it's 107° today). :|

You are an adventurous spirit! I admire that. I used to be, but after being married for ten years, I've gotten a bit too comfortable.
ReplyDeleteI do have to say that one of my most memorable trips in my life was when I traveled to Australia alone (I was 18) and I connected up with family members I didn't know. I then went on to Fiji with strangers for ten days on the way home. It was a trip I'll never forget.
Have a great trip and post lots of photos!!
Go for it, girl! You've worked hard, so have fun! I know I have fun living here 24/7.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Maybe you'll decide to have a "girls night out" and see "Thunder From Down Under". ;-)
