Peeps, I've been crazy busy, so haven't been able to blog for awhile. Am on a brief lunch break, so quickly here are a couple items of interest:
3:30 pm EST today: Chat live with prize-winning playwright David Henry Hwang about his play "M. Butterfly" on the Washington Post web site. J. Hiroyuki Liao, the talented actor who plays Song Liling, the main character of the play, will also chat live. By the way, I met Liao, who's known as James, last night at a private reception at Arena Stage. He's quite gracious and humbe. I also met Mr. Hwang, who is very funny and irreverent, as well as several other talented and influential Asian-American playwrights.
6:30 pm: Instead of the prez debate, get your culture on by attending the Washington, D.C. Asian Pacific American Film Festival. There are four days left of this festival, which has shown some thought-provoking, intelligent and funny films. Tonight at the Goethe-Institut is a series of women's short films, followed by a series of shorts on the theme, "Searching for Lost Fathers."
