Olympian Track Star Bob Mathias Dies at 75

Yesterday, after a long bout with cancer, at his home in Central California. Bob Mathias was only 17 when he won the gold in the decathlon at the 1948 Olympics. He went on to a long and storied career not just in track, but in football, the movies, and politics. The Fresno Bee gave a tribute to its native son.
