Pneumatic Breasts and General Tso's Chicken: Vegas Missive Number 1

Just a very quick eensy-teensy note before I'm terminally pegged a blogger geek.

I'm in Las Vegas. Been here since Monday evening. And instead of gambling away my inheritance at the $10 blackjack tables, swilling over-priced cocktails, casting a withering eye at the many pneumatic breasts bouncing around and gaping at the plasticity and sheer entertainment of this city in the desert, I'm in the library. Writing y'all.

My SO is flying in this evening, so I'm really looking forward to that. Also met Corinne (of "Livin' Las  Vegas Loca" fame) and her boyfriend Alan last night. We did the buffet (my first buffet!) at Main Street Station, downtown. More food than you can shake a stick at. The General Tso's chicken was pretty good. The diet lemon meringe pie tasted like wallpaper paste (what did I expect?!). Then we strolled through downtown. More on that later - it was nice to finally meet you, Corinne!

What I've done so far: Worn out my welcome at the Golden Nugget Spa, perused the Las Vegas Art Museum, where I bought a beautiful delicate pearl and silver necklace, experienced the "Fremont  Experience" light show, drove up and down the Strip, and headed out to West Las Vegas, where the locals are to see how this little cowpoke town has grown.

Oh, yeah: It's my birthday. Very exciting. So plans for tonight: "O" at the Bellagio. Dinner at some fancy-schmancy restaurant on the Strip. Before that, lounging at the Mandalay Bay pool and drinking slushy tropical drinks while reading an Anita Brookner novel.

Okay, that's it for now. Gotta find my shades ....
