Hi, folks. Just a quick note here, as I've been running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Tell you why in a sec. But first, here's a few photos from Vegas. E., his mom (that's me and my MIL in the second photo), and I watched Cirque Du Soleil's "Love," which showcases music by the Beatles.
The show costs a pretty penny, but it's well worth it. It engaged all five senses (they even pumped in scents, like vanilla and incense in a few songs), and several of the songs and performances were quite moving (e.g. "Something" alone was worth the price of admission).
But in other news: E. and I are in Los Angeles, desperately trying to find a house to live in. We're going to rent for a year until we know: a) we want to stay in Los Angeles or move up to Northern California and b) if we do stay in LA, exactly where in this sprawling megalopolis that extends hundreds of miles in each direction.
Oh ... and we bought a house. In Lake Tahoe. On the west shore. We're working hard to sort out all the details now. We close in a month! More on that later.
Running in the heat: I ran in a 5K this past Saturday at the conference we attended in Las Vegas. And I won first overall in the women's category. First time I was first!
I had a crappy finishing time, as it was over 100 degrees when we started at 7:45 a.m., and my legs were dead from running hard the day before (I signed up for the race at the last minute). So my finishing time was 24 minutes and change.
But good enough to win a really nice award. I'll post a photo next time.
A house in Tahoe!!?? That's great!
ReplyDeleteAnd you know how things are going to come down in the La vs. Bay Area decision. I mean really.... no contest!
Congratulations on taking first place!
some wonderful changes you are going through!! :) best wishes to you both. Congratulations on a FIRST place finish how awesome is that!? TRULY wonderful! nice job :)
ReplyDeleteTahoe. Sounds like you should just commute from there ... you know, from the bedroom to the kitchen for a cup of coffee and then to the porch to work online.
ReplyDeleteFirst is first, and obviously you did the best of all the women under the circumstances. Congratulations...on the running award and the new house. I got a taste of Tahoe-bound traffic the other weekend...lucky you.
ReplyDelete24 minutes and some change is NOT a crappy finishing time (ok, well, not for me, LOL) - and first is first! Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteFunny how you casually throw BTW that you bought a house--in Tahoe no less. Good for you! As for your race, nobody was faster than you that day at that location, so congrats!
ReplyDeleteSo which was more exciting, finishing first or buying the house?
ReplyDeleteDouble congrats on the house and the 5k finish!
ReplyDeleteHousing slump? What housing slump?
Just checking in. WOW! Sounds fabulous! Lots of exciting stuff going on in life. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteyou look terrific! congrats on the house and the award. FIRST IS FIRST is right!
