Gummy Bears, anyone?

I, of course, partook of them all.

So this year, I thought I'd repay the favor. Jeanne and I handed out gummy bears, Swedish fish, and dark-chocolate M&M's to runners at Miles 14, 15, 22, 23, and 24. Many were grateful, and one man even said, "Oh, I love you!" when grabbing the last of the M&M's from my out-stretched hand.

Here I am handing out gummy bears to runners at Mile 22 or so. Be sure to scroll down to see more photos and the back-story of my trip to D.C.

  1. I think there is a special place in heaven for people who hand out candy at marathons. You and Jeanne are golden.

  2. When I was flagging at the NYCM last year, A ran off and brought me back a red licorice twizzler stick that revived me. I can still taste its invigorating sweetness, its goodness, its magical restorative powers a year later! (I think it was the sugar talking.) That was at MP 24. You & Jeanne weren't at MP 24 in New York last year, were you?

  3. We are golden! and yes, sadly, I am a better salesperson than you.

That was almost as much fun as running the thing!

  4. How can a managing editor ever outsell a woman who runs in skorts?

  5. That's nice. I owe some people at least a couple of bottles of water somewhere between mile 22 and 24.
